NEVER BUY Ipswitch WS_FTP

or anything at all from Ipswitch for that matter

Ipswitch's customer service is the worst, most unfriendly and unhelpful ever! Their "One key-One computer" policy actually prevents you from making any changes to your computer. If you reinstall your OS you are done. They won't reactivate your key. They just want your money. Forget about having an answer when you send them an e-mail. You won't! And this is definitely more than disappointing. It actually sucks! And please accept my apologies for using this word on my page but this is exactly what Ipswitch's customer service does and how I feel about them and their software.

 

 

WARNING! Never buy WS_FTP Ipswitch WS_FTP Customer Service is the worst ever. If your PC crashes you won't be allowed to use the software again. If you change your PC you won't be allowed to use the software again and if you mount your OS on a different hard drive you won't be able to use the software you paid for again.

 

Ipswith WS_FTP is the most expensive FTP Software out there, although it does not do anything that others wouldn't do, and while the others will be yours always and you will be allowed to use them regardless of  the number of times you re-install your OS, this disgusting piece of software will be useless the same day you install a new OS, or change your hard drive or buy a new PC.

 

Do not try to contact their Customer Service, it is painful, and useless, and very unfriendly, and they will treat you as if you were a thief, even though you own a 90US$ software (Mind you up to three times more expensive than some of the best FTP software out there).

 

I finally gave up trying to make them understand that I had just installed my OS on a new hard drive. That's it! They would not even answer me. So, and this is funny, I ended up having to look for a cracked version of the same software I own. And you know what? I am using the illegal cracked version because they wouldn't allow me to use the legal software I bought and I paid 90 US$ for. And this simply because my hard drive crashed and I had to buy a new hard drive!  Is that a sin? Am I being punished for that?

 

And you know what? The cracked software works better, faster, smoother and I can install it without any hassle and re-install it and re-install it and re-install it every time my computer crashes or my hard drive dies.

 

Now, please, can someone explain to me why should we buy legal software, or DVDs, or CDs if each and every time we do they treat us as thieves? Or they wouldn't allow us to properly use them? Or would prevent us from using them at all? -Yes, iTunes, this is about you too-

 

So that's it,  in the end I had to look for a cracked copy of a software I have paid for. But, don't worry, the legal software and the legal key license are here, with me, at home, just in case the police knocks on my door asking me why I am using an illegal piece of software. "Well guys" I will tell them "it is not illegal at all, it is legal and I paid for it and here you have the e-mail, and the invoice, and the credit-card statement from my bank". Yes I have everything but yet my software does not work. Well, in fact it does, actually it works, it is just that it does not work on my computer, yes, that's it, you have read well, I am not authorize to use it because, they say, I can only use it in one computer. BUT I ONLY HAVE A COMPUTER!!! So that is why, and of course only in the meantime, I am using a cracked version, because I thing I have a right to make sure I can use something I have paid for. Haven't I?

 

But I promise everyone that I will uninstall the cracked version from my computer as long as my legal key is reactivated. I will remove the cracked software, yes, but (sorry Ipswitch) I will never remove this page. I am at war with them for life. I am against Ipswitch for life! I will never buy anything from them in my life and I will try to prevent others from doing so as much as I can. That's what you get and what you deserve when you treat your costumers in such disgusting a manner as they have treated me.

Pros: There is nothing that is good about this program (Iswitch WS_FTP)

Cons: This is a truly horrible program. A bulky, unappealing interface which makes a simple task like FTPing incredibly difficult and time consuming. I had used WS_FTP 95 for years--it was 100% free, unlike this. Unfortunately I couldn't find the disc that it is on. I don't know who in their right mind would come up with a HORRIBLE program like this, but they should be fired immediately. Do not waste your time with this program or any other from IPSWITCH or whatever they call themselves.

I honestly cannot believe how bad this program (Iswitch WS_FTP) is.

Cons: Better alternative is the FREE cuteFTP and smart FTP. More functionalities, more speed and even better interface

I found your webpage on how bad Ipswitch's customer service is after my own similar problem.
They tried to extort $40 from me for information that is on THEIR OWN website. Can you believe that? I just wanted to add my 2 cents, feel free to post it on your site if you want. And thanks for taking the time to point out what jerks these people are.

There is a document right on your own website that tells exactly how to fix this idiotic program, but you choose to try and extort money from existing customers rather than simply provide that information. I found it by doing a search on the web for "Locate the folder called E177E04D548C4006A465EEB92D3DE021"
 
That is what I call "software extortion." Do you people really think that is good customer service? Do you really think people are going to cough up another $40 for your crappy software, for information that is already on your OWN GODDAMN WEBSITE?
